Acting

It's been a while since I've updated... but truth be told, it's been a very uneventful few weeks.

I've basically just been counting down the days until my last day at work, which, by the way, seems to be taking its good old time.

I leave for Austria in 19 days. I can't tell if I'm nervous, excited or generally non-plussed. I guess it doesn't seem quite real yet.

Last week NSCC asked me to answer some questions and to send in a photo of myself so they could post a blurb about my scholarship to their internal website. I find it very difficult to pose for serious photos and keep a straight face or smile like a normal person, so natch this resulted in some cheesy "acting" by yours truly:

This is not the photo I sent in, by the way. I toned down the cheese factor on the one I sent.

An unedited (my name is spelled wrong in the third paragraph and I was later informed that it was edited so that my name was spelled wrong throughout. Oh good.) PDF version of the article can be seen here.

In other news, I have been thinking of getting a half sleeve tattooed on my left arm for ages now. I would like to get a small part of it done before I leave, but seeing as I only have 19 days left here in Halifax, I may have put it off for too long. I have to find out today or tomorrow if the tattoo artist can squeeze me in before I leave.

Haha, I wish you had sent that photo ^_^

Seriously, even if you aren't sure if you're excited at the moment, I am!

Re: tattoos - did I mention that my mother had a flip out about my new one the first day I was home for Christmas? I think she fears that no one will ever love me...

Oh, my mom gets pretty sad about my tatts. I remember her once lamenting "you'll never be able to wear a sleeveless wedding gown".

I tried to leave comment on your blog earlier, but the firewalls at work wouldn't allow me to for some reason... Lame.

Anywho, I was just going to state that someday, somehow, I want to own a Quilt by Erica (Cleo).

As soon as someone tells me they want a Quilt by Cleo, I start getting ideas ^_^

Hello! Just discovered your blog, I am applying to grad school in Austria (I'm American) and was looking for student blogs on Google! I also happen to be a birder myself! Anyways, I am really excited for you! Will be checking back often!

Thanks for the comment! I'm leaving for Austria on Wednesday... yikes! Just packed my Birds of Europe book and binoculars. ;)

I'm hoping to get a chance to update my blog on my 8 hour (!)layover in Toronto.
